Lunching NEVID Diploma | On Sunday, Al-Matariya Teaching Hospital witnessed the launch of the first professional diploma specializing in cerebral catheterization in Egypt and the Middle East, under the name NEVID Diploma , during an official ceremony held at the Continuing Medical Education Center, under the patronage of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population.
A new generation of doctors
Dr. Ahmed Al-Basyouni, Professor of Cerebral Catheterization at Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Medicine and Director of the diploma program, emphasized that the program represents a qualitative shift in the course of medical education and specialized training, noting that Egypt is in dire need of a scientific arm capable of preparing a new generation of doctors qualified to face the health challenges in this delicate field.
Cerebral Catheterization
El-Bassiouni said, “The time has come for Egypt to have an advanced educational system focused on cerebral catheterization, which will help bridge the gap in the number of specialized doctors, keeping pace with global developments in this field.”
El-Bassiouni explained that the diploma is the result of cooperation between the Educational Hospitals Authority, the Egyptian Health Council, and the General Union of Doctors, with the aim of raising the efficiency of Egyptian doctors and qualifying them to save lives in a matter of minutes, praising the great support from the political leadership and the Ministry of Health.
He also thanked Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Abdel Ghaffar for his full support for the program from its inception to its realization, and Dr. Mohamed Latif for his continuous efforts to develop the educational process and train doctors.
It is worth noting that the NEVID diploma spans two academic years and includes advanced practical and theoretical training, making it a milestone in the field of specialized medical education in Egypt and the region.
The ceremony was attended by a number of senior figures in the medical sector, including Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Hospitals and Educational Institutes Authority, Dr. Mohamed Latif, CEO of the Egyptian Health Council, and Dr. Osama Abdel Hay, President of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate.
World Stroke Organization
The General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes announced that three hospitals had won the Angels Awards for Excellence, presented by the World Stroke Organization (WSO), for the second quarter of 2025, in a new achievement that reflects the quality and efficiency of the services provided by the Authority’s stroke treatment units.
The launch of the program comes as part of efforts to advance specialized medical education and provide medical personnel with the latest skills and techniques in the field of non-surgical interventions for the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases and strokes, in a step that is considered an unprecedented medical and educational achievement.
The diploma is expected to open up broad horizons for academic and research cooperation and enhance Egypt’s position as a regional center of excellence in medical education and precision therapeutic interventions.
