NEVID Diploma | News   |    Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the diploma was launched under the patronage of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, and is considered the first specialized professional diploma in the field of cerebral catheterization in Egypt. Studies are scheduled to begin in June 2025.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Abdel Ghaffar, head of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, added that the professional diploma targets an elite group of doctors who have obtained a master’s or doctoral degree in the specialties of neurology, neurosurgery, and interventional radiology, and aims to provide them with the latest knowledge and skills in the field of interventional cerebral catheterization. It also plays a vital role in the treatment of many complex conditions such as strokes, aneurysms, and other diseases affecting the cerebral blood vessels.

He pointed out that the accreditation of this diploma by the Egyptian Health Council, headed by Dr. Mohamed Lutif, CEO of the Council, represents an important step towards improving the level of health services provided to brain and nerve patients in Egypt, in addition to its accreditation by the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, and the General Union of Doctors, which gives it high scientific and professional value and enhances the status of its graduates on a professional and medical level.

Ahmed Heiba, director of the Authority’s General Secretariat Training Center, explained that the center was recently accredited by the Egyptian Health Council as an accredited training center offering specialized professional diplomas and various training programs for all specialties and all members of medical teams, including doctors, nurses, technicians, and administrators, with the aim of raising their professional and administrative competence to improve the health services provided within the Authority’s units.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Basyouni, Professor of Neurology and Director of the program, noted that the Authority organized the first specialized program for advanced stroke care (ASLS), accredited by the American Heart Association, in December 2024. The professional diploma in cerebral catheterization represents a qualitative addition to specialized training programs in Egypt and reflects the Authority’s interest in advanced training programs that effectively contribute to building a new generation of skilled doctors capable of dealing with the latest treatment technologies, which positively reflects on the health and safety of patients.

It is worth mentioning that the scientific board for the diploma includes a select group of neurology professors from within and outside the Authority, namely: Dr. Ahmed El-Bassiouni, Professor of Neurology at Ain Shams University and Director of the Program, Dr. Abdel Hafiz Shehab El-Din, Consultant Neurosurgeon at Al-Sahel Teaching Hospital, Dr. Magdy Khalaf, Consultant Neurologist at Al-Matariya Teaching Hospital, Dr. Sameh Saleh, Consultant Neurosurgeon at Al-Matariya Teaching Hospital, Dr. Tamer Al-Qassas, consultant diagnostic radiologist at Al-Matariya Teaching Hospital, Colonel Dr. Mohamed Al-Azazi, consultant neurologist and neurointerventionalist at the Military Medical Academy, Dr. Ayman Al-Sudani, consultant neurologist and neurointerventionalist at Ain Shams University, Dr. Romani Adly, Consultant Neurologist and Cerebral Catheterization Specialist at Al-Matariya Teaching Hospital, and Dr. Ahmed Attia, Consultant Neurologist and Cerebral Catheterization Specialist at Al-Matariya Teaching Hospital and Diploma Coordinator.
