The first specialized professional diploma in the field of cerebral catheters within the Arab Republic of Egypt

Under the patronage of Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes announced, on August 10, 2025, the launch of the professional diploma of interventional brain catheters

‘Neuro Endovascular Intervention Diploma’

Organized by the Authority’s General Secretariat Training Center, which was approved earlier from the Egyptian Health Council; This is to develop specialized medical competencies in the field of treating brain, nerves and brain catheters.

Prof.Mohamed Mustafa Abdel Ghaffar, Chairman of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, stated that emergency medicine is the primary engine for any medical facility, and that the development of this specialization comes as a maximum priority within the strategic goals of the authority, within the framework of the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population to give the maximum priority to emergency medicine; This is due to the increasing numbers received by the reception and emergency departments in the hospitals and institutes of the authority; Where the authority received about one million seven hundred thousand patients from the beginning of the year 2025 until now, and to serve these patients in a professional and distinctive way that shows the need for continuous training and medical education for medical teams, and this training must be in the framework of an integrated system, allowing the trainee the best and latest training programs in addition to obtaining an accredited certificate that qualifies him to work in this field.

He emphasized that the authority attaches great attention to the training programs related to the cerebral catheters and the treatment of stroke, foremost of which is the diploma, which we start its activities today, and that the authority is keen to register the stroke treatment units in it at the World Stroke Organization; Where the authority’s hospitals recently received three awards from this organization due to its excellence during the second quarter of the year 2025, which confirms the presence of medical cadres, capabilities and advanced equipment that qualifies them to implement the training program for this diploma with confidence and competence.

He added that during the last period, the authority organized more than 4,000 scientific and research event, between workshops, seminars, conferences, training courses, scientific days, and discussion seminars, attended by 65 thousand trainees and interested in the training and research field, which is a number that reflects the authority’s interest in training and applied scientific research, which is the primary goal of establishing the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes from 50 years ago.

He concluded his speech by thanking Prof. Mohamed Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council, and Dr. Osama Abdel -Hay, captain of Egypt’s doctors, given the continuous support and unlimited cooperation with the authority in adopting specialized professional diplomas and providing them in a manner befitting the Egyptian doctor, which ultimately leads to providing a distinguished medical service to patients, which is the supreme goal that we all seek to achieve.

For his part, Prof. Mohamed Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council, for this diploma, appreciated the efforts of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes towards upgrading the level of health services provided to patients, through training programs and specialized professional diplomas, which the authority is keen to adopt from all the competent authorities, led by the Egyptian Health Council, which gives it a high scientific and professional value and enhances the position of its graduates at the professional and medical level, Which is fully compatible with the authority’s research and training role.

In his speech, Prof. Osama Abdel -Hay, Captain of the Doctors, thanked the efforts made by the authority in the field of continuous training and medical education; This is in conjunction with the activation of the medical responsibility law, and that the authority is keen to adopt the specialized professional diplomas that it organizes through the Authority’s General Secretariat Training Center; This is for various specialties, especially the accurate ones, and that the most important characteristic of this diploma is its inclusion in three integrated disciplines with each other, namely brain and nerve medicine, neurosurgery, and interventional radiation, which provides integrated and trained medical teams at the highest levels.

Prof. Ahmed Al -Bassiouni, Professor of Neurology and Director of the Program, pointed out that the professional diploma of the cerebral catheters represents a qualitative addition to specialized training programs in Egypt, and reflects the interest of the Hospital and Educational Institutes Authority in advanced training programs, which is the first of its kind in the region for interventions in the field of cerebral catheters, and studying it over two years, which is the culmination of high -ranking institutional cooperation between the General Authority of Hospitals and Educational Institutes, and the Council The Egyptian health and the Medical Syndicate, and the importance of this diploma is highlighted because we are in great need for this rare specialization, and in need to prepare 150 doctors trained in all the procedures of the cerebral catheter; This is in order to deal with nearly 50 to 60 thousand cases of cellular catheter annually, and that it must have a specialized center to deal with stroke through the emergency interventional catheter in each governorate at the level Interventional, which plays a vital role in treating many complex conditions such as stroke, blood vessels, and other diseases that affect brain blood vessels. The scientific board of the diploma includes a group of brain and nerve professors from all medical institutions, especially the Hospital and Educational Institutes Authority.

Ahmed Heiba, Director of the Authority’s General Secretariat Training Center, d. Heba Abdel Aziz, former director of Princess Fatima Academy, Dr. Abdel -Fattah Hijazi, Director of Al -Sahel Teaching Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Suleiman, Director of Al -Matareya Teaching Hospital, Dr. Ibrahim Al -Banna, Director of Damanhour Teaching Hospital, Dr. Faisal Joudeh, Director of Shebin Al -Koum Educational Hospital, and the members of the Scientific Council for Diploma.
